BP is a major international energy company active in around 80 countries. BP has been involved with the development of CCS for well over a decade both through technology development programmes and through operational experience at the In Salah site in Algeria.

Statoil is an international energy company present in more than 30 countries around the world. Statoil has had a close involvement in CCS from the beginning, storing CO₂ in the world's first underground storage project at Sleipner, participating in the In Salah project and also leading the Snøhvit storage project.
